What is a dental implant?
It is an artificial root made of biomaterial used as a replacement for a lost tooth. It is usually made of pure titanium, which is completely compatible with the human organism. Implants are manufactured on the basis of almost twenty-year-long practical experience.
What are the advantages of implants?
- The restoration of your confidence: you can eat properly and do not have to dread business meetings or dates.
- Prevention of further bone loss: Once you lose teeth, the bone no longer has a purpose. Like an unused muscle, it withers away.
Are implants suitable for me?
Yes, if your dental condition and oral hygiene allow it.
Smoking, alcohol or drug abuse may cause serious risk.
Some diseases also reduce success, such as untreated diabetes, serious cardiovascular disorders. It is not possible to set in implants before the age of 14, while the jaw bone is still growing.
What happens in Dentland surgery?
First a preliminary consultation takes place, where the prerequisites for the implants are checked. Relevant questions which need to be cleared are:
- Which teeth exactly are missing?
- In what condition are the jaw bone and the teeth in the neighbourhood of the future implants?
- Has there been any root treatment?
- Have you got any X-ray pictures?
- Are you aware of any inflammation in your oral cavity?
First the hygienic preparation of the oral cavity takes place (removing dental deposits, scales, polishing, replacing tooth fillings), then the dental implant gets set in. There is a control check-up a day later. If a temporary replacement is required, it is also provided.
Obviously, this procedure does not require a hospital stay. Preparation interventions (such as the replacement of tooth fillings) take place as usual, similar to your ordinary dental visits. “Minor” operations – in the course of which the implantation takes place - last for 30 minutes up to 1 or 2 hours at most, beginning with anaesthesia or any individual premedication and ending with sutures.
After the first visit, a control check-up is absolutely necessary 7-10 days after the operation, then 3 or 4 months later, when the implants have finished the ossification process and the final tooth replacement is provided.
Our surgery provides Denti and Camlog implantology systems.
What is the durability of implants?
Dental implants have been applied for over 10 years in Hungary. Several thousand pieces have been set in at the success rate of 97%. Implants can serve a lifetime provided that they have been set in in a professional way.
Is there any allergic reaction or tumour in connection with implants?
The material is very pure titanium. This metal has unique biological qualities: the bone is capable of integrating with it. There has been no record of any allergic reaction or tumour in connection with implants. This material does not dissolve in body liquids, it does not start a reaction with the immune system.
